Size distribution of a drop undergoing breakup at moderate Weber numbers

چکیده
The size distribution of child droplets resulting from a dual-bag fragmentation water drop is investigated using shadowgraphy and digital in-line holography techniques. It observed that parent contributes to the atomisation tiny droplets, whereas core disintegration predominantly results in larger fragments. Despite complexity associated with fragmentation, we demonstrate it exhibits bi-modal distribution. In contrast, single-bag breakup undergoes tri-modal We employ analytical model developed by Jackiw & Ashgriz ( J. Furthermore, confirm adequately range Weber numbers.

Breakup of a pendant magnetic drop.
We report experiments on a millimeter-sized pendant drop of ferrofluid in a horizontal magnetic field. The initial drop size is chosen just below the breakup threshold under gravity. As the magnetic field is increased, the drop tilts in order to align with the direction of the total volume force that is exerted on it: weight plus magnetic force. The breakup is controlled by a generalized Bond n...
متن کاملPrediction of drop size distribution parameters for optical wireless communications through moderate continental fog
Wireless Optical Communication Links (OCL), or Free Space Optics (FSO) links involving optical ground stations (OGS) are highly influenced by the earth atmosphere due to the interaction of the optical wave with particles of different size and shape. Fog, clouds, rain and snow cause significant signal attenuation thus limiting the performance of OCL. In this paper, we consider the behavior of OC...
متن کاملDrop Properties after Secondary Breakup
-Drop properties during and after secondary breakup in the bag, multimode and shear breakup regimes were observed for shock-wave-initiated disturbances in air at normal temperature and pressure. Test liquids included water, n-heptane, ethyl alcohol and glycerol mixtures to yield Weber numbers of 15--600, Ohnesorge numbers of 0.0025-0.039, liquid/gas density ratios of 579-985 and Reynolds number...
